Almost done level - Video

I have make some changes according to the feedback from last week. I have add windows into the whole building and also add smoke to some of the fire area. I am still working on the decals adding the notes on the table and books for the rack.

Draft Level

I have show the level my supervisor. He says that I have done a good job I still need to add more detail into the level. For example to add windows, books, notes on the table, smokes and flickering light. I have also ask my supervisor can I do my VIVA next week he says that if i think that i am alright is okey to do the viva. I am still thinking of doing viva next week or the week after next week.

Import and texturing assets

I have done the basic levels for the game. Now I am importing all the assets that I have build in 3D max into unreal. I have put the collision detection on in 3D max for unreal. I model a box or more to represents the collision detection box and name it UCX_(model name) using this unreal will detect the box as collision detection and not normal box. Then in 3D max I also need to put all the texture on and set the material ID so that when import into unreal I can get my own texture onto the model. I have learn that for evey different colour and texture that is different you need to put a different texture and have the ID set properly. Then unreal will read the material properly with different ID.

I also import the texture and material for all the assets then put them on.


These are all the assets that is in the game. I have texture most of them. I am still looking for texture for some of the assets. The texture need to be imported to unreal then create it as material before using it on the assets. The texture needs to be in the settings of these pattern for example( 512x512, 256x512, 1024x512, and more). If you have put  a texture with (700x700 or 750x800). It will still work.

Level Done

I have finally finish with my level it is a little bit behind the schedule because I was very busy with my other module. I will catch up on this module.
I have my basement, Ground Floor, First Floor and Second Floor done. Now I need to look for texture for the walls and ceiling. Then get the door and asset into it and start working on it.

Post 6- Leveling Design

After last week textures and modelling of the assets. I have started to build the level in UDK and started to import some models into UDK. Then I have meet up with my supervisor and showing him the level that i have done. My plan of working is to start up with a basic level and get everything to work. Then I will go into more detailed. As my supervisor had advise me to get the basic work well then look into detail such as particle, the sounds, then environment, and interactivity.

Then I carry on with my level modelling. I have also look for some texture for the wall and door. I need more texture for different rooms and kitchen.

This is the ground floor of the level that I have shown to my supervisor then he give me some feedback on it. The feelback is good. He told me that the classroom is long and small. Then i realise that it is quite small so I have me some changes for it. I will finish up my level soon.

Post 5 Textured Assets


This week I have done the modeling and also do some texture for my model. As what is suggested on last meeting with my supervisor that some this model is from some free model websites. Because I wasn't able to model all of the model so I get from free model on the web then I do my own texturing on the model downloaded.

These three bookshelf is model by me and the texture is from cgtexture . These bookshelf is also model with udk collision box. 


These two are table and chair for children. Both is also model by me. These also have collision detection for UDK as well. This table and chair is just color because table and chair for children is always in bright color to catch their attention. For Example:

These are other model that I have build on my own and texture them. Some of the texture is build by myself and most of  the wood texture is from cg texture . 
















These model is downloaded from some websites that is free online to use as my assets. all of these model is retexture using my own texturing and mental ray material.

For next week I will start to model the level in udk and try to import all of these model into udk and place them inside the game engine.

Post 4 Assets Modelling

I will be using UDk for my level design
I have done some research on some of the assets that i will be modeling with. Then I also started to model some models.








I have also apply Collision detection box to all the model that I have model. 
I have also meet up with my supervisor today. He had point out a lot of important stuff that I have not think about. For example the number of assets that  I am going to model. Because there is a lot of assets that will be in my level so it is not able for me to finish all the assets by the time that I have set in the proposal. he suggested me to look for free assets that is online Not all of them just those that is not important in the scene. This will also help on cutting my modeling time and have more time concentrating on those model to make it look nice. I have search some models online after having meeting with my supervisor. I have found this website that provide some model that is free to download. (http://www.3dm3.com/modelsbank/) It is a very good websites as well in the websites that also give tutorials on different software. 

Looking for assets online also give me more time on texturing my model.
I will be continue modeling on my assets and texturing them by next week.
